Family trip to South Haven

Two years ago for my husband’s birthday, I planned a little family getaway trip to celebrate. I was 8 months pregnant with our little girl, and it was going to be the last trip as a family of 3 before she came. We chose South Haven, Michigan, since it was a shorter drive, and right on Lake Michigan. We had the best little trip then, so we decided to head back to the cute little town for my 30th birthday, but this time with two littles in tow!

Our Airbnb was the cutest little cottage.

This go around, we rented an Airbnb and it was SO perfect! You can find this cute little cottage here. We wanted to save money by eating in some meals, and having a place for both littles to take a nap was key. We found this little cottage on some serious acreage and couldn’t of had a better trip!

We were able to play outside, let our dog run around (she was in serious paradise), have bonfires, go exploring in the woods & even have a little day of pool fun. The pool wasn’t heated, but it made for a fun experience in the cold water! I remember when I was little always wanting to be the first one in my grandparents pool (no matter how cold it was)!! 🥶

The best part of this little place was that it was only a 10 minute drive into town & the beach!

We packed a picnic and enjoyed a day at the beach with the kids on our last full day. I highly recommend! The beach in South Haven has plenty of picnic tables, and even a playground for the kids!

Our final day of fun we packed up the car and said goodbye to our cute little property. We headed east towards central Michigan to make a pit stop in Kalamazoo. It has become a tradition now to have lunch at Bell’s Brewing store/restaurant, Bell’s Eccentric Cafe. The food is great, the beer is even better. 10/10 would recommend. This was the first year for me getting to actually enjoy the brew, since last trip I was still pregnant. It was so memorable recreating our family picture outside , and now it will always be tradition.
