This little caddy is always a go to as the seasons change, special holidays, or even something I know they are really into (hello, princesses and transformers). It’s SO simple and beneficial for my little’s development. They can explore the tools provided to help practice those writing skills, that will be required of them as they get older. I give a little lesson on how to “clean it up” when they are done, and then they love getting to “work.”

Inside the caddy I have some blank paper, Scholastic book catalogs (have them circle the books their interested in for easy gift ideas), themed coloring pages, ‘I Spy’ pages, and some color by number. I found all of these printable pages on Teachers Pay Teachers for FREE.

As far as supplies go, I am a huge fan of Crayola Jumbo Crayons for my littles. They are a little bigger and easier for their little hands to hold. I also provide washable Markers, because my kids love them. *Simple trick is to store your markers with the color tip DOWN so they don’t dry out. I always have ticonderoga pencils (jumbo) for my beginner writers–a thicker hold, for their little hands. Golf pencils are also benificial for little hands, if you are working on Handwriting. (That’s a whole post for another day.) My last supply I have in there is a highlighter. My daughter is still working on writing her name independently, with readable handwriting. I use it as a tool to write letters, and she will trace the yellow lines. (A yellow marker works, too!)
I love changing out the caddy, and adding in holiday themed papers. I also have thrown in a coloring book of choice for my kids, and even their own plain notebook. They love making lists, drawing pictures, or practicing their letters and numbers.
I encourage you to make your own, and see how a simple supply caddy, can help you have a few minutes to yourself! 🙂 Don’t forget to tag us if you do, and be sure to follow along on Instagram for more ideas! Please reach out with any questions, too!

Holly
