Each season or holiday I switch out the books in our living room. We have a basket on the fireplace that holds all the books for the season or current holiday. Each time the books are switched, my littles know what to expect and what they can look forward to next.
I do this for a few reasons. One, as a former teacher, I have quite the collection of books. This keeps them somewhat organized, so I know where they are. Two, it works as a cute decor with the given season. And most importantly, to promote a love for reading and spark interest. Having a basket keeps excitement of *new* books alive. Like when a kid hasn’t seen a toy in a long time and instantly starts playing with it? Same concept. My littles love the books! The benefits of reading to your children, are endless. Their joy and interest in reading books, begins at home.
**If you don’t have enough to make a set of seasonal books, for the given season, think about having a basket of library books to enjoy, or some of their other favorites.

I hope you’ll join me in having a little basket of books in your living space, for your little one(s). I love that they can grab a book in the living room, and snuggle on the couch for a story, or read on their own! This helps tremendously if they need a cool down after some play (iykyk), while you’re making dinner, or need a short break. We love our book basket, and seeing their joy in the switching them out each season/holiday is hands down one of my favorite things. 🙂 Keep your eyes out for more book lists to come. Make sure you’re subscribed to the blog, so you don’t miss a beat! You can follow along on Insta here.
