Homemade Laundry Detergent

There’s something so satisfying about making simple swaps in our home that save money and support our health.

I started making our own laundry detergent, and honestly… it’s SO easy. No complicated ingredients, no overpowering artificial fragrances, and it costs a fraction of what store-bought detergent does. A win in my book!

Our simple recipe:

3 cups washing soda

3 cups baking soda

1 cup borax

1 cup epsom salt

~15-20 drops of favorite essential oil

½ cup shaved bar of Castile soap (optional)

Just mix it together and store in an airtight container. I like using jars like these.

The best part about this recipe is you only need 1-2 TBSP per load based on the size. I will sometimes use 3 if we’re dealing with a large load of towels or bedding.

I love knowing exactly what’s going into the products we use every single day — especially on our clothes, bedding, and towels. It’s affordable, effective, and gives me peace of mind for our family.

Simple homemaking swaps like this really do add up. Let me know if you give it a try! Don’t forget to follow along on Instagram and Facebook!
